Alanya Budo Sports Club Heads to Izmir: Three Athletes to Compete on the Road to the Turkish Championship

As Alanya Budo Sports Club, we are preparing to step onto the tatami once again for one of the important goals of the 2026 season. Three of our athletes will represent both our club and Alanya at the Cadet Taekwondo Western Group Competitions. Ahmet Emir Tekin will compete in the 80 kg category, Hakan Sönmez in 63 kg, and İbrahim Yıldırım in 58 kg as they pursue qualification for the Turkish Championship.

The Cadet Taekwondo Group Competitions, organized within the scope of the Turkish Taekwondo Federation’s 2026 Activity Program, will be held in four different regions across Türkiye.

The Western Group competitions will take place in Izmir on 23–24 September 2026.

Alanya Budo Sports Club will take part in this important organization with three athletes.

Three Athletes, Three Weight Categories, One Common Goal

The athletes who will compete for our club in Izmir are:

Ahmet Emir Tekin – Men’s 80 kg
Hakan Sönmez – Men’s 63 kg
İbrahim Yıldırım – Men’s 58 kg

All three athletes will compete against strong opponents in their respective categories with the aim of finishing in the top eight and advancing on the road to the Turkish Championship.

Following a long and intensive preparation period, our athletes are ready to represent both our club and Alanya in the best possible way.

One of the Most Critical Stages Before the Turkish Championship

The Cadet Western Group Competitions are not just another event on the calendar.

As one of the key qualification stages on the road to the Turkish Championship, success in this competition will depend not only on technical skill, but also on physical conditioning, mental resilience, match discipline, and tactical execution.

For this reason, our preparation process has been based on a comprehensive approach that includes technical and tactical training as well as competition psychology.

Our objective is clear:

To return from Izmir having taken another important step toward the Turkish Championship.

Ahmet Emir Tekin to Compete in the 80 kg Category

One of our experienced athletes, Ahmet Emir Tekin, will compete in the men’s 80 kg category.

Having gained valuable experience in previous competitions, Ahmet Emir Tekin is now preparing to carry that experience onto the tatami in Izmir.

His goal is to achieve strong results in the Western Group and secure a place among the top eight.

For Ahmet Emir Tekin, Izmir represents another important stage in a much bigger sporting journey.

Hakan Sönmez to Represent Alanya at 63 kg

Our cadet athlete Hakan Sönmez will compete in the men’s 63 kg category.

After an intense training period, Hakan will face strong opponents in Izmir and take on an important challenge on the road to the Turkish Championship.

Competing with a top-eight target, Hakan Sönmez will aim to reflect the results of his preparation on the tatami.

İbrahim Yıldırım to Take the Tatami at 58 kg

Our third athlete, İbrahim Yıldırım, will compete in the men’s 58 kg category.

Building on the competition experience he has already gained, İbrahim is preparing for another important challenge and will be one of the key names in our three-athlete cadet squad in Izmir.

Like his teammates, his goal is to finish among the top eight and continue his journey toward the Turkish Championship.

For Us, Success Is More Than Medals

At Alanya Budo Sports Club, we do not define sporting success only by rankings and medals.

We value the qualities that Taekwondo gives to children and young athletes, including discipline, self-confidence, determination, consistency, respect, and responsibility, just as much as competitive results.

Every athlete who steps onto the tatami represents months of training, persistence, recovery from setbacks, and dedication to a goal.

For this reason, while every result in Izmir will matter to us, the effort, progress, and fighting spirit shown by our athletes will remain among the most important measures of success for our club.

We Continue to Work for the Future of Taekwondo in Alanya

One of the main goals of our club is to strengthen the Taekwondo structure in Alanya and introduce more children and young people to sport.

We believe that sport offers a powerful alternative to the growing risks of excessive screen use, inactivity, and harmful habits among children and teenagers.

Taekwondo does not only teach kicks and techniques.

It teaches young people how to set goals, work with discipline, stand up again after defeat, and push beyond their own limits.

With this philosophy, we continue to train new athletes in Alanya and prepare our current athletes for provincial, regional, and national-level competitions.

Now It Is Time for Izmir

On 23–24 September, Ahmet Emir Tekin, Hakan Sönmez, and İbrahim Yıldırım will step onto the tatami in Izmir for one of Alanya Budo Sports Club’s important challenges of the 2026 season.

All three share the same goal:

To finish in the top eight, continue on the road to the Turkish Championship, and represent Alanya in the best possible way.

We wish our athletes every success and have full confidence in them.

As Alanya Budo Sports Club, we will continue to work, compete, and move forward with determination to bring new achievements to Taekwondo in Alanya.
